Mapping the Future of Your Community presentation and Q&A

2/10/2026

Residents of Rossville are invited to a MAPPING the Future of Your Community presentation and question & answer on Tuesday, Feburary 10, 2026 at 6 p.m. at the Rossville Municipal Building, located at 120 E. Attica Street, Rossville, IL  60963. Gisele Hamm, Program Director for the MAPPING the Future Program at the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University, will explain the participant-driven process that helps communities create long-term development goals and action plans.

The Community MAPPING process is a participant-driven strategic visioning and planning process whereby local residents create a long-range vision for community and economic development and a plan of action for achieving it. A series of five, three-hour visioning sessions, involving at least 30-60 diverse local volunteer residents are held to discuss the questions: "Where are we now?, Where do we want to be?, How are we going to get there? and How do we make it happen?" During the course of the process, the participants will identify 3-6 high-priority goals for their community, develop an action plan for implementation, form action teams, and become organized to present the community vision and goals to the other community members in a town meeting.

Please plan to join us!
